How peer review works
Peer review
Each proposal is assessed by independent reviewers who do not know the authors and are not known to them.
The path of a proposal
- Editorial check and acknowledgement of receipt.
- Invitation to reviewers, who accept or decline the assessment.
- Assessment on five criteria, from 1 to 5: relevance, originality, structure, bibliography and clarity, with comments for the authors and, if needed, confidential comments for the Board.
- The reviewer’s recommendation: accepted, accepted with changes or rejected.
- The Board’s decision, which confirms the recommendation or changes it with grounds.
- When there are changes to make, a revised version goes for a new assessment.
Double blind
The reviewers receive the manuscript without the authors’ identification; the authors receive the report without the reviewers’ identification. That is why the submitted file cannot contain names, affiliations or acknowledgements.
A reviewer’s confidential comments reach the Board only.
For reviewers
Invitations arrive by email. After accepting, the reviewer reaches the manuscript and the assessment form in the reviewer area, saves the draft and submits the report when it is complete.
