Publication ethics and conflicts of interest

What the journal expects from the authors, the reviewers and the Board in each proposal.

Authors

  • The text is original and is not under submission elsewhere.
  • The relevant conflicts of interest, or their absence, are declared on submission.
  • Where applicable, the study had the approval of an ethics committee, stated on submission.
  • All the authors approved the submitted version and the list of authors.

Reviewers

  • They assess without knowing the authors and keep the manuscript confidential.
  • They decline the invitation when they have a conflict of interest or cannot meet the deadline.
  • They ground the report in the journal’s five criteria and in comments useful to the authors.

Board

  • It decides on the basis of the reports and gives grounds for any decision that departs from the reviewers’ recommendation.
  • It handles withdrawals, corrections and allegations of misconduct with a record and an answer to those involved.
