How the Centro de Estudos de Bioética handles the personal data of people who use this site.

Who is responsible

The data controller is the Centro de Estudos de Bioética (CEB).

What data we process and why

  • Site account: the email and name you give, to give you access to your personal area. The password is managed by Wix and the CEB cannot see it.
  • Membership: the plan you choose and the payment of fees, made on Wix’s secure payment page. The CEB does not receive full card details.
  • CEB news: the email you give, to send you the news. You can stop receiving it at any time by writing to the Centre.
  • Submissions: the authors’ details, the texts and the files sent, for editorial review.
  • Event registrations: your name, email and answers to the event form, to manage attendance. Paid tickets are handled on Wix’s secure page.
  • Contacts: what you write to the CEB, by email or through the Coimbra hub’s form, to answer your request.

Where the data are kept

The site and the data we collect on it are hosted on the Wix platform (Wix.com Ltd.), which processes them on the CEB’s behalf.

The Revista Portuguesa de Bioética site, YouTube and LinkedIn are external services with their own conditions.

Cookies and browser storage

The site uses the cookies needed for it to work and stay secure, set by Wix, including the one that keeps your chosen language.

This browser also keeps your language and theme choices, which you can reset in Preferences.

Statistics or marketing cookies are only used with your consent.

For how long

Data are kept for as long as they are needed for the purpose they were collected for: your account, while you keep it; membership, while it lasts and for the legal invoicing periods; submissions, during the editorial process and in the journal’s archive; contacts, for as long as it takes to reply.

Your rights

You may request access to your data, its correction or erasure, restriction of processing, objection and portability by writing to info@cebioetica.pt.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Portuguese data protection authority (Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados): www.cnpd.pt.
