LAW, POLITICS & SOCIETY

The Law, Politics & Society group focuses on investigating the ethical implications of advances in neuroscience, such as brain-machine interfaces, brain stimulation, memory manipulation, and other technologies that impact human cognitive functioning. The study of these innovations seeks to understand and mitigate the ethical and social challenges they bring.

Beyond practical technologies, the group also addresses fundamental philosophical questions related to consciousness and free will. It investigates how advances in neuroscience can influence concepts of moral responsibility and autonomy, especially in contexts of neurological diseases or the use of neurotechnologies for enhancement purposes.

Another relevant theme is the ethical regulation and application of these technologies in everyday practices, such as education, health, and work. This group also analyzes how neurological innovations can redefine the boundaries between the human and the artificial, broadening debates on identity and cognition.
