The Meeting of Researchers in Bioethics in Lusophony (EIBL 2025) began on June 6th at the University of Aveiro, with an opening session that reflected the collaborative, academic and intercultural spirit that defines this initiative. The full recording of this session is now available on CEB’s official YouTube channel.

The session was presented by researcher Dr. Sheila Humphreys , a PhD student at NOVA School of Law, and featured two notable institutional interventions:

  • Professor Artur Silva , Vice-Rector of the University of Aveiro, who hosted the Meeting on behalf of the host institution, highlighting the role of bioethics in university education and in the social responsibility of science.

  • Professor Carlos Costa Gomes , President of CEB, who highlighted the Center's commitment to building a Lusophone bioethics, open to the cultural, disciplinary and epistemological diversity of the Lusophone space.

This inaugural event marked the start of a day full of communications, debates and meetings between researchers and leading institutions in the field of bioethics. The recording of the session now allows everyone — participants, colleagues and interested parties — to (re)visit this remarkable moment.
